Chhath Puja Seva Samiti, founded on October 20, 2013, in Ponda, Goa, is a non-profit socio-cultural organization. Its mission is to raise awareness of the rich cultural significance of Chhath Puja and bring together local communities for festivals, social events, and charitable activities.
This journey started in 2011 when just two families celebrated Chhath Puja near Mahadev Mandir in Ponda, despite a significant population from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern U.P. living in the area. On this very festive day visionary social worker Shri Siddheshwar Nath Mishra popularily known as S.N.Mishra took pledge to bring the community on common platform to celebrate rich ancient cultural heritage of Chhath Puja. In 2012, they united 12 families for Chhath Puja. In 2013, the Samiti was officially established with 21 founding members.
Chhath Puja is celebrated annually on the banks of the river near Mahadev Mandir, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage through traditional folk arts and music. The Samiti operates on the goodwill and initiative of its members, promoting togetherness. In addition to Chhath Puja, they celebrate Community Holi and organize cultural events like Teej and Jiutia Puja to preserve their cultural heritage. Vasant Panchami (Sarswati Puja).
